Cyborg...Night of Reckoning, Day of Hope

Aric's new ear with drainage tubes
(Remember this is only step one, a few more artistic surgeries to go)
Dr. Genecov's physician asst.,Jordi, cleaning up the incision etc.
A closer look at back side of ear and tubes
My little Eskimo is happy to be out of bed & sitting in a chair
Picked out things to do in the play room
Aric refused to sleep in his bed ..so we
compromised :)

Last night was definitely a night of reckoning. Aric couldn't eat very much and therefore did not tolerate the narcotics he was being given. He vomited 4 times since leaving recovery yesterday afternoon thru early morn around 1. The first day shift nurse although nice was totally useless. I had to tell her what should be done etc. Not to mention, it was as if we were a bother to her.
The night shift nurse was FABULOUS ! Kaytee was a refreshing change for sure. She helped us in getting Aric to keep food down and finally listened to me about oral meds upsetting Aric's stomach. She got the nausea med increased and pain meds thru the IV. Finally we fall asleep, but at 4 in the morning Aric became hungry and was ready to eat. Boy did he..lol.
We were awoken at 7am to the two Physicians asst. who came to clean up the dressing on his head and check out the wounds.
Aric began choking on his phlegm and to which the P.A. Informed him he needed to get that up by coughing. Aric gave him the "GTH" look and told him no my rib hurts. We all told him yes we know but otherwise all your secretions will settle in ur stomach; making him sick and possibly choke.
Our other orders were to do the respiratory therapy blow tube thingy( sounds real professional right?lol) and to walk at least 4-5 times today.
Fortunately, our day nurse came back in a much better mood today :) She has been much more receptive to questions etc.
Our walks started off down the hall, back & forth 11/2 times. Next I bribed him into going to the little corner library they have on the floor. Once we arrived, I found The Magic Tree House Book "Blizzard in a Blue Moon". Jack & Annie to the rescue ;) So after 5 chapters, we decided to walk the rest of the way around back to our room. We were then visited by a lovely older gentleman from Ireland, who pronounced Aric's name with the correct Gaelic pronunciation. He was a true delight & prayed with us.
Aric by this time had been sitting in a straight back chair. Next came the child Life specialist, who invited Aric to the summer party at 2( which I believe we won't make as it is after 2pm n he is fast asleep) anywho we walked with her to go pick out movies, games, pics to colour & paint.
After our return, we sat in the chair for bout an hour and chatted til he started to fall asleep. We tried to get him back in the hospital be & he wasn't having it. Needless to say the staff got to see just how strong willed he can be. So our compromise was the pull out couch :)
Aric to the party late but better than never

The finished product :) he was going forthe same colours as his hearing aid ;)
Aric meet some friends on our way back from the party
Hanging out with Mickey on our last walk of the night.

Well the P.A.  Came by tonight and because of Aric's progress, there may be a possibility of us being discharged tommorrow. That is not a for sure thing seeing as the pain ball won't be removed til Saturday.
The JP drain is letting out negative gases and no more drainage; same with the other drain. Aric is convinced his head is farting...LOL.
