My son...The Cyborg

Drawing measurements to be even w/ current ear
The mold of his current ear to be his stone cast for surgeon to follow
Dr. D. Genecov & Aric Tues before surgery
Mr. Mustache ..lol..waiting for pre-op appt at hospital
Checking out the fake OR room; playing with all the gadgets
Aric giving oxygen to the OR dummy to see how the ambu bag moves

Aric will probably wake up this afternoon sadly disappointed that his ear doesn't look like one of those robotic machinery pieces on the syfy channel. He saw a tattoo show the other day where the man had an engine tattoo'd on his upper thigh as if it was part of him. Aric immediately came and told me how cool he thought it would be to have such a engine for real in his leg; he would be able to run even faster..lol.
All joking aside, Aric woke up yesterday super excited about getting his ear today. He so badly wants to own a cool pair of sunglasses that does not require using a rubber band across the back of his head. I thought it was real neat that Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas had a mock set up of an OR room. Aric got to touch, feel & play with various tools and gadgets. Out of the visits to several different hospitals this is the first time I have ever seen something like it; it wasn't fake equipment either.
This morning moved like a breeze. They took him all in on time. Aric took his goofy juice and began visiting Lala Land shortly thereafter. The doctors came in and went over all the news again. Oh and the anestegiaologist called last night and gave me his cell number to call if we had any questions etc. Talk about great service :) I can honestly say Aric's team of surgeons (Genecov & Trone), nurses, etc. are amazing. I have received personal calls from mandy (nurse) all day as to how all is going whereas others were called on the community waiting room phone. The staff here in the hospital itself has been great.  I had the pleasure of meeting, Keith Zimmerman, director of children's hospital while getting coffee this afternoon. He went out of his way to tell me that if I need anything at all to jus let him know and how to get ahold of him. Of course I used that moment to do a plug for GBYS :) I am so thankful for all the true generosity and prayers offered up by so many...I feel blessed in so many ways.
Aric's surgery started at 7:30am. The tonsil's were finished by 8am. I received a call bout 11:30 that they had the rib out and began carving it to the ear shape. At 1:30, Mandy called to let me know that they are finished sewing him up & now cleaning him up,so Dr. Genecov should be out to talk with me in 30 mins or so.
So for now, I will close...to be continued....
